I have extensive experience in the psychiatry of old age. From 2002 - 2012 I worked with a leading international group at Melbourne Health. This included being involved in research and teaching there and overseeing my own team carrying out the management of the full spectrum of mental illness and psychological difficulties in the older age group.
Since returning to NZ in 2012 I have worked in the mental health services of older people within the public sector, and in private practice.
My particular expertise is assessing for cognitive impairment, the diagnosis and management of dementia and the assessment of capacity and/or competence.
Other areas I have expertise in:
- anxiety and mood disorders;
- psychosis;
- intellectual disability;
- sleep disorders;
- trauma-related difficulties;
- ADHD assessment
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- transcultural refugee issues.
